  • Activating 'AllMenus On' Cheat
    (and a couple of others)
What is allmenus cheat and what does it do?
This cheat unlocks ALL possible interactions with objects and sims. So, basically you become less limited by the game rules and can get needed interactions more easily.

Sims can get married or have their 1st kiss as many times as they want, they can spoil a painting or eat from trash can on command. Their relationship scores doesn't have to be below 0 to start fighting or your sim doesn't have to be a vampire to turn into a bat.

Here's a couple of shots from the game:

[sponge bath - play with fridge - fly here - love flour sack baby - kick trashcan - learn from professor von der ball - smash urn - stomp on flowers]

Some of these interactions would be *really* hard to get, as sims are usually performing these autonomously.

Pic 1 and 2 possible Flirt and talking interactions.
Pic 3 - this is what you get when you click on empty ground spot. Teleport here and face here come in handy when making movies.
Pic 4 - new interactions with couch. Veg out, find a snack and nod off. This is what lazy sims are supposed to do autonomously

Why I never heard about it then?
This is one of the 'hidden' cheats, it only works if the game is launched in debug mode, so you'll have to make some changes in your game registry files.

    Activating the cheat:

    1. Go to your "Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Config" folder
NOTE: if you have an EP installed the path will be
    Program Files\EA GAMES\EP NAME\TSData\Res\Config

    2. Open GlobalProps.xml file in Notepad
(be sure to make a backup copy of the original version!)

    3. Now you need to insert the following:

    ..somewhere in between these lines:

    4. Save the file.

    5. Done!
Now when you load the game, the boolprop cheat will be automatically activated. I don't think it's a big disadvantage as you can't possibly make a movie without using boolprop. Also you'll be able to change stuff like moods and relationship points with mouse cursor (sometimes you are unable to do it if you forget to enter boolprop cheat in the neighborhood screen). And one more thing: allmenus automatically disables the 'free will on' option in the game. So if you want it on, you'll need to enter 'allmenus off'

    6. Enter allmenus on cheat to get all the extra menu options.

    Other 'hidden' cheats:

  • Debugsocial on/off
also a very useful one. It turns on/off the debug flag to show outcome choice dialogs for social interactions (like hug, kiss etc)

    Leap into arms->decline:

Some interactions will have several options e.g. there are 6 or 7 types of greets.

  • FBA 1 - useful for gameplay. FBA = find best action.
Sims become 'smarter' and fulfill the needs that they need most. So if their hunger motive is in red they'll go and get something to eat first and then go play piano.

  • FBA 2 - activates an alternative fba mode

  • money [n/+n/-n] n - any number. You can enter or add or substract any amount of money

  • Sethour [0-23] - changes time of the day. (This cheat is available only in OFB, but it used to be a hidden cheat in the base game).

  • DumpLotState - Dumps lot object state to text file LotState.txt.

  • simOutfit [sim in on lot first name [casual | casual2 | casual3 | swim | sleep | formal | underwear | naked | maternity | gym | tryon | nakedOverlay]] - displays info about meshes, textures etc. (Check out the screenshot)

  • SimDNA [sim's name] displays DNA info ::screenshot::

And a couple more, I don't really know what they mean. I took the descriptions from the cheat console. Please post in comments if you happen to know what these do or if you know any other useful ones.

    eh - Event handler cheats

displayAnimList - display last 400 animations on (optional) named objects (see Sims2CheatExtras.doc for more details)

aev - Audio event cheat command

    Troubleshooting/FAQ

    I can't find TSdata folder!!

Which folder are you looking in?

There are 2 locations on your hard drive where The Sims 2 game files are.
First should be in 'My documents'(or D:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 <- that's where your downloads are. There is a Config folder BUT This is NOT the folder you need!

And there is a second folder - the one you installed your game to. By default it is supposed to be Program Files, but it doesn't have to, as you get to choose the installation path. So you need to browse for this folder yourself, as I can't possibly know your game files location.

If you can't find it anywhere just do a search for globalprops file.
[start -> search -> for files or folders]
If you got several search results, look at the file paths. You need the one that is located in the latest EP folder you have.

I found the file, but I can't edit it!
Make sure you open it with a text editor, Notepad for example. NOT Internet Explorer. If it opens in your browser by default, right click on the file and choose 'Open with...' and then choose Notepad.

    I can't save the file!
Try logging on your system as administrator. [more info here]

I've tried everything but it still doesn't work...
If you think you did everything right and it won't work or if you have Windows vista, check out this video tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qluKxRKHTcs

    Will this crash my game?

You might have some trouble because of this if:
    - You have many global hacks installed
    - You have any problems with using boolprop testingcheatsenabled on cheat
[as now you will be unable to disable it even if you enter boolprop testingcheatsenabled off]
